Our MISSION
At Candies for a Cause, we are dedicated to fostering a confident and empowered cleft community. Our mission is to support individuals and families affected by clefts through three core initiatives:

Providing Supply Packs to babies preparing for surgery ensures they have the necessary essentials during their recovery journey.

Funding Appliances and Surgeries for those in need, offering critical medical support to improve lives and help individuals thrive.

Creating Groups and Offering Scholarships to encourage participation in extracurricular activities and sports, helping individuals build confidence and connections within their community.
Through these initiatives, we aim to create a brighter, more inclusive future, where every person affected by a cleft has the opportunity to lead a life filled with confidence, possibility, and support.

In February, we hosted our Skate for Smiles event, and we were thrilled to see over 100 attendees come out to support our cause! It was heartwarming to connect with so many people and share our mission, and we are grateful for the incredible turnout. This year marks the beginning of an exciting journey for us, and we’re hitting the ground running. We can’t wait for the summer, when we plan to get out into the community even more and spread awareness about cleft lip and palate conditions. Together, we’re making a difference, one smile at a time!
Our why
I started this journey with a heartfelt mission.
My granddaughter, Lavayah, was born with a cleft lip and palate, which opened my eyes to the challenges that families can face. Supporting my son and daughter-in-law, as they navigate these issues has been both a challenge and a calling for me.
Through my interest in freeze-drying and all the benefits it brings, I started a freeze-dried candy company.
I wanted to create something special that not only brings joy but also helps raise awareness about cleft conditions.
My hope is to share stories, create a confident cleft community, and provide supplies, support, and future engagement to help LIVE a life full of adventure and smiles.

Our Candy
Freeze-dried candy is made through a unique process that preserves the candy’s flavor, color, and texture while removing moisture.
The candy is first frozen at extremely low temperatures, which solidifies the moisture within. Then, it undergoes a process called sublimation, where the frozen water turns directly into vapor without becoming liquid. This step removes the moisture, resulting in a lightweight, crunchy treat that maintains its original flavor. The final product is not only delicious but also has a long shelf life, making it a fun and portable snack option.
Our foundation is dedicated to empowering families affected by cleft lip and palate by providing essential resources and funding for the various tools and devices needed for their children’s care.
We envision creating a robust support network that not only uplifts parents but also fosters confidence in children embracing their uniqueness.
A portion of the proceeds from our freeze-dried candy sales will directly support these initiatives, ensuring that we can meet the diverse needs of families within our community.
